Best Joggers for Men in Nigeria: Baggy vs Tapered, Prices and Fabrics

Updated October 2026

Joggers are the trousers most Nigerian guys actually live in: lectures, errands, the gym, a night out. But "joggers" now covers three very different fits, and the price runs from ₦1,000 on a marketplace to ₦45,000 for luxury labels. This guide breaks down the fits, the fabrics that work in our heat, what you get at each price, and where our baggy joggers fit in. Short version: the Sparta Gym Joggers (₦17,500) are for training and everyday, and the Nexus Baggy Joggers (₦31,000) are the statement pair.

Three jogger fits, explained

Tapered joggers

The classic. Roomy at the hip, narrowing toward a cuffed ankle. They look neat with fitted tees and clean sneakers, and they are what most people picture when they hear "joggers". The downside in Nigeria: the cuff traps heat at the ankle and the narrow leg clings when you sweat.

Baggy or wide-leg joggers

Straight or wide from hip to hem, often with no cuff, so the fabric stacks a little over your shoes. This is the streetwear fit of the moment. It looks deliberate with a boxy tee and keeps air moving around your legs.

Gym joggers

Built to move: an elastic waist, a drawcord, pockets that hold a phone during a session. They can be tapered or wide. The best ones look good enough to wear out after training, which is what most of us do anyway.

Fabrics for Nigerian heat

There is no magic fabric that keeps you cool at 32°C, but some choices are clearly better than others.

  • Loose fit beats any fabric claim. A wide leg that does not touch your skin is cooler than a "breathable" fabric that clings.
  • Heavyweight is not the same as hot. A heavier fabric holds its shape and does not stick to sweaty legs the way thin polyester does. That is why heavyweight wide-leg joggers can feel better in heat than flimsy tapered ones.
  • Fleece lining is for comfort and cooler hours. Fleece-lined joggers feel great in air-conditioned spaces, on harmattan mornings and at night. For midday sun, pick an unlined pair.

Joggers prices in Nigeria in 2026

We checked public listings on Jiji on 31 October 2026. Treat these as rough bands, since listings change daily.

Level What we saw What to expect
Budget marketplace Listings start from about ₦1,000 Thin fabric, loose stitching, sizes that vary from pair to pair.
"High quality" marketplace and two-piece sets Around ₦17,000 to ₦29,500 Better fabric, but you are trusting one seller's photos and sizing.
Luxury and designer listings Around ₦40,000 to ₦45,000 and up You pay for the label. Check carefully for authenticity.

Our joggers are ₦17,500 (Sparta) and ₦31,000 (Nexus), with a fixed fit, real product photos and a brand you can message.

Sparta vs Nexus: which pair is for you?

Sparta Gym Joggers: ₦17,500

  • Relaxed, oversized wide-leg fit for unrestricted movement.
  • Heavyweight fabric with a structured drape that holds its shape all day.
  • Elastic waistband, adjustable drawcord and practical pockets.
  • Black, navy, brown or wine.

Choose the Sparta if you want one pair for the gym, errands and travel. Pair it with the Onyx Male Tank for training, or the matching Sparta Gym Jorts if you like sets.

Nexus Baggy Joggers: ₦31,000

  • Oversized fit with a soft fleece lining.
  • Bold flame-wave graphics and the globe from the ROOT series.
  • Black, navy or white; part of the limited ROOT drop.

Choose the Nexus if you want joggers that are the centre of the outfit. Wear them with a plain Root Boxy Tee so the graphics do the talking.

Black joggers: the safe first pair

If you are buying one pair, buy black. Black joggers hide sweat marks and dust, go with every tee you own, and dress up with a clean shirt. Both the Sparta and the Nexus come in black.

How to wear baggy joggers without looking sloppy

  1. Keep the top cleaner than the bottom. A boxy tee or a structured tank, not another oversized layer.
  2. Let the hem stack, not pool. A little fabric resting on the shoe looks right. If it drags on the ground, the length is wrong.
  3. Wear substantial shoes. Chunky sneakers balance the wide leg; thin flats make it look like pyjamas.
  4. Match colours if in doubt. Black tee, black joggers, white sneakers always works.

Care

Wash cold, inside out, with similar colours. Do not tumble dry, and do not iron directly on any print. This keeps the fabric's shape and the graphics sharp.

Joggers FAQ

Are baggy joggers good for the gym?

Yes, if they have an elastic or drawcord waist and the fabric does not cling. The Sparta was made for exactly that.

Should I size up for baggy joggers?

No. Baggy joggers are already cut wide. Take your normal size for the intended look, and size down if you prefer a cleaner line. Check the size guide on each product page, or message us.

Can women wear these joggers?

Yes, both pairs are unisex. They look great with a cropped top like the Root Cropped Boxy Shirt.

Are fleece-lined joggers too hot for Nigeria?

For midday outdoor heat, often yes. For evenings, air-conditioned offices, travel and harmattan, they are comfortable. Pick unlined heavyweight joggers like the Sparta for daytime heat.
